World’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses

The fifth biennial Golf Digest International World’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses rankings have been released and we are very excited to announce that The Links at Fancourt has been voted 28th amongst the World’s 100 greatest golf courses. The Links previously occupied position no 56, thus the latest edition reflects a significant improvement in the world rankings.

350 panelists from beyond the U.S. borders brought a truly international perspective to the list, as courses from 25 different countries made this year’s rankings with the Links featuring as one of only three South African courses with Leopard Creek (47) and Durban Country Club (97) completing the South African contingent.

A very chuffed Jeremy D’Argent, Director of Golf at the Links says: ‘It is an honour for Links to be recognized amongst the greatest in the world. The entire team, the feedback that we receive from our valued members and the continual pursuit towards golfing perfection drives us towards achieving and maintaining world class standards”.

Legendary golfer and course designer Gary Player is behind the expert craftsmanship of The Links, which was inspired by Scotland’s famous links courses. The Links, Outeniqua and Montagu at Fancourt consistently feature among the 20 finest courses in South Africa. The Links regularly plays hosts to some of the world’s greatest golf legends, among them Honorary Members Gary Player, John Bland, Justin Rose, Retief Goosen, Branden Grace and Ernie Els. It is also known for hosting high profile international and national events, including the Volvo Golf Champions 2012, as well as the Berenberg Bank Master Seniors European Tour event in 2010, the Woman’s World Cup and South African Open in 2005, and the Presidents Cup in 2003.

Located among 613 hectares of lush countryside in the heart of what is widely regarded as the country’s golfing mecca, Fancourt is an internationally sought-after golfing playground, with superb leisure facilities that include two luxury hotels, three restaurants, the Fancourt Spa, a Sports & Leisure Centre, and, of course, three of the country’s finest golf courses.
