Fancourt Health & Safety Protocols: FAQs

Will I need to be screened for COVID-19 on arrival?

Yes. Fancourt will ask each guest to complete a medical and travel declaration on arrival and each guest, visitor, staff member or service provider will be screened and will have their temperature checked.

Will I need to wear a mask?

Masks are necessary (according to South Africa’s regulations) in all public areas and restaurants. Once seated in a restaurant, guests may remove their mask. Masks do not need to be worn in the privacy of one’s room.

Please pack cloth masks for you and your family. Fancourt will have additional masks on sale if required.

Are the restaurants open?

At present Monet’s and The Club Lounge is open. Guests will be required to book for breakfast, lunch or dinner in order to introduce capacity control and social distancing measures (for example, sufficient space between tables).

In addition, room service is available for those who would prefer to dine in the privacy of their room.

Can I make a spa booking?

The Spa at Fancourt is open. Guests need to make a booking at the spa and comply with health and safety protocols. Please ask us for more information.

Is the Leisure Centre open?

The gym at the Leisure Centre is open. Other facilities are also open (for example, tennis courts and nature trails) and guests will need to comply with health and safety protocols. Please ask us for more information.

Is Kidz Club open?

Fancourt’s Kidz Club is open. Limited numbers will be allowed to ensure capacity control and social distancing. Please pre-book your spot at Kidz Club. Kidz Club will adhere to strict health and safety standards, including frequent sanitising of the space and equipment – and a focus on outside play. Children and staff will be routinely screened on arrival and regular disinfecting/handwashing encouraged.

What happens if I should fall ill while at Fancourt?

Fancourt has a standard operating procedure in place should a guest (or staff member) display symptoms or fall ill while at Fancourt. Your health remains a top priority and we’ll ensure you receive quick, empathetic and excellent care.

How can I protect myself and those around me?

Please follow the guidelines put together by the Fancourt team. All the measures have been put in place for your safekeeping – and that of our team. This includes adhering to signage, social distancing measures and wearing a mask when appropriate.

Please let us know immediately if you feel unwell. We are here to help.

What has Fancourt done to ensure my health and safety?

Many of our measures are instantly visible, including signage; hand sanitiser freely available throughout Fancourt; social distancing measures in our restaurants and public spaces; and the use of PPE by all our staff.

Others happen behind the scenes, including adherence to strict health and safety protocols in our kitchens, laundries and delivery bays.

Rest assured, Fancourt’s COVID-19 measures protect every step of the guest journey and are in line with the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the comprehensive protocols developed by the Tourism Business Council of South Africa (TBCSA).
